Board in Luxor, then relax and dine on deck. Nothing is asked of your guests until morning.
Day 2
Karnak and Luxor Temples
Walk the hypostyle hall at Karnak, then tour Luxor Temple after dark when the Avenue of Sphinxes shines with lights.
Day 3 Eclipse day
Eclipse and the West Bank
Cross to the Valley of the Kings in the morning, then return to the deck and watch the sun go out, expected between 11:40 and 13:05.
Aswan
Days 4 to 6

Sail south to the twin temple at Kom Ombo, and continue onto the magical waters of Aswan.

Where is the best place to see the 2027 total solar eclipse?
Luxor. The path of totality crosses Upper Egypt, and Luxor sits close to the centerline with 6 minutes and 22 seconds of darkness, the longest visible on land until 2114. August is also the month Luxor is least likely to see clouds.
Is there a Luxor eclipse tour available for 2027?
Yes. Our 9-day Egypt solar eclipse tour begins in Luxor on July 31, 2027, and places guests on the Nile for totality on August 2. It continues south to Aswan and Abu Simbel, then to Cairo, with optional Red Sea and Mediterranean extensions.
Will the 2027 eclipse go over the pyramids?
No. Giza sits outside the path of totality and will see a partial eclipse only. To see the sun disappear completely, you need to be in Upper Egypt. Our itinerary visits Giza and the Grand Egyptian Museum after the eclipse on day 8.
What is included in the Egypt solar eclipse tour?
Nine days with six nights aboard a five-star Nile vessel and two nights in a Cairo hotel. All meals on board, an astronomer for eclipse day, licensed Egyptologist guides, entrance fees, domestic flights, and all transfers in our own vehicles. Extensions to the Red Sea or Mediterranean are priced separately.

What's the safest way to watch an eclipse?
Guests will receive certified solar viewing equipment and instructions from our team. Solar viewing glasses must be worn throughout the partial phases. They are removed only during totality and replaced immediately as totality ends.

Yes. All our guides are licensed Egyptologists who can speak many languages, including English, French, Spanish, and German.
