Aswan

The Nile Jewel

In the very deep south of Egypt lies the unequivocally magnetizing city of Aswan, Egypt’s third largest city and once upon a time considered the frontier of ancient Egypt. Aswan is home to the friendliest and most characteristic people in Egypt, the Nubian community. Identified by their local dialect unique to them, the vibrancy of their neighborhoods, and the warmth of their hospitality. We will take your guests on an enchanting voyage to a city unlike any other.

Aswan is bountiful in its offerings. Many of its ancient Egyptian sites and landmarks are accessible by Nile sailboat ride, making visits to the Botanical Gardens on Kitchener Island, Elephantine Island, or temples such as Philae Temple an even more whimsical experience.

Enjoy the robust markets of Aswan, where spices, local foods and crops, souvenirs, and the eager smiles of the shopkeepers await you. To experience the local culture to its fullest degree, stroll through Nubian village, where the people, indigenous to Southern Egypt, will show you their local craftsmanship and their simple yet vivacious architectural style. On the other side of the Nile, a short boat ride away, the Old Cataract Hotel sits elegantly elevated on the river banks. Built in 1899 by Thomas Cook for European travelers, this beauty once hosted world leaders such as Churchill and President Jimmy Carter. Enjoy an evening candlelit dinner with Nile views or tea on the charming hotel terraces.

Aswan introduces a whole new face to Egyptian culture and holds extraordinary importance in ancient Egyptian history. Allow us to add this jewel to your itineraries today.
